*New* Sebby Call’s Memorial Service Information

March 20, 2017

Dear KA Families,

As you most likely have heard, Sebastian Call (Sebby) passed away at the age of 10 after a strong

brave battle with cancer early last Tuesday morning surrounded by his family at the Montreal

Children’s Hospital. Our hearts and warmest thoughts go out to Jen, Steve, Philip and Sebby’s

grandparents.

A celebration of Sebby’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church this Saturday March 25, 2017.

The service will begin at 1pm. Afterwards at 3 pm, there will be a reception/celebration in the

downstairs hall. The family has said that all who have not attended the funeral but would like to join

them afterwards will be very warmly received.

Knowlton Academy’s choir (the older students) will with honor and love for Sebby, sing at the

service.

The family has requested that donations in Sebby’s memory go to ‘The BELL FUND at the Cedars

Cancer Foundation.

Please go on the link above to read about this wonderful fund that supports newly –diagnosed MUHC

cancer patients of all ages with comfort kits as they begin their treatments. At a ceremony here at

school last January 29, 2016 Sebby, surrounded by his family and all his “KA family” was the very

first child to ring a very special bell with Judy Martin present (Bell Fund founder). This bell now

hangs on Sarah’s Floor, which is the oncology unit at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. The ringing

of the bell celebrates the end of a patient’s cancer treatment. Sebby had just returned to school after a

year of cancer treatments. It was a very proud and joyous day for Sebby, his family and for all of us at

KA. Another bell (the first one) hangs at the Cedars Cancer Centre at the MUHC’s Glen Site.

Included in each comfort kit, is a card of hope and encouragement from a student. Judy also accepted

a wonderful array of cards made by Knowlton Academy students that day.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in Sebby’s memory can do so directly on the Bell Fund web site

or you can send your donations to us and they will be included with Knowlton Academy’s donation.

Encouraging your children to each complete a job at home to raise $2.00 would be very much

appreciated. I will announce this to the students on Tuesday. Any and all donations big or small

would be greatly appreciated. Your own cheques should be made out to the “Cedars Cancer

Foundation – The Bell Fund.” These will also be accepted by the school and will be sent along with

the school’s donation. If you would like a tax receipt (most likely only over 20$), please include all

your information – name and address to be sent with your donation.

There will be a new award given in Sebby’s memory at our year end ceremonies.

Sincerely,

Renalee Gore
