Attended “Séminaire du Verbe Divin”, Granby, for secondary 1 and 2; then went to “Polyvalente Massey-Vanier”, Cowansville, for secondary 3-4-5.
Throughout high school and post secondary studies, worked summers as a Lifeguard at Douglass Municipal Beach, Brome Lake, and Sutton Public Pool. Also worked at Glen Mountain in the winter as a Ski Instructor and Coach. After finishing his university studies, coached swimming with the “Équipe de Natation Cowansville” (ENC) to youth and Masters swimmers while doing supply work in schools. His first teaching contract was at the École Secondaire l’Envolé (97-98), Granby (CSVDC), and went on to work for the Eastern Townships School Board, first in Clarenceville (98-99), then Massey-Vanier High School (99-00), to finally land at Knowlton Academy in August of 2000, where he has been since.
In terms of professional development, followed several workshops on Sensory Integration under Caroline Hui, OT, and the “Choose to Learn” institute: “How does your Engine Run?”®and the Alert Program® for Self-Regulation. Also, attended a conference on “Integrating Mouth with Sensory and Postural Functions”. He was actively involved in the implementation of the “Engine Room” at Knowlton Academy and collaborated with Sherbrooke Elementary School in building their own. Furthermore, he also was guest speaker on several occasions at the Faculty of Physical Activity Science, Université de Sherbrooke, to share his experience in SI and Engine Room workouts for students. Lastly, he has been following training through the “Neufeld Institute Course” that focuses on attachment and student-teacher relationships.”
His first competitive experience and passion with sports was downhill ski racing, starting at the age of 12 and well into the college ranks (Champlain College Glen Cathcart Award, ’92). By 16, competed in triathlons and running events. Member of the “Vert et Or” Cross-Country Team at Université de Sherbrooke (92-95). Selected in 1997 on the Canadian Team, in his age group, for the Duathlon World Championships in Gernika-Lumo, Spain. His love for the great outdoors brought him to Adventure Racing from 2002 to 2007, earning several regional titles and racing spots in international events.
Still an active runner, cyclist and skier, shares many outdoor persuits with students, friends and family. He is a firm believer of the “Fun Factor” in education, the importance of developing “perspective” to look at life issues and challenges, and a promoter of “small scale actions on what we have control over” as a paramount factor for professional/personal success and happiness.
